Post Code SIP-02 : Sub Inspector of Police. Number of vacancy is 675 (UR : 154, UR-Woman : 77, SEBC : 121, SEBC-W : 61, SC : 73, SC-W : 37, ST : 101, ST-W : 51).
Post Code SP-04 : Sergeant of Police. Number of vacancy is 33 (UR : 12, SEBC : 09, SC : 05, ST : 07).
Post Code DS-03 : Deputy Subedar. Number of vacancy is 84 (UR : 29, SEBC : 23, SC : 13, ST : 19).
For the above mentioned 3 posts : Graduates in any discipline of any recognised University / Institute are eligible for those posts.
Post Code SOFS-45 : Station Officer (Fire Service).
Graduates in any discipline of Science / Engineering stream of any recognised University / Institute are eligible for the post. Number of vacancy is 52 (UR : 18, SEBC : 14, SC : 08, ST : 12).
For all posts : Candidates should have proficiency to read, write & speak in Odiya language. Candidates should also have to be passed Class VII Examination with odiya as one of the language subjects or have to be passed Matriculation (Class X) or its equivalent examination in odiya medium or have to be passed a Test in odiya of Middle English School Standard conducted by the School & Mass Education Department of Govt. of Odisha. Age should have to be between 21 and 25 years as on 01.01.2013 that means candidates should have to born between 02.01.1988 and 01.01.1992. Female candidates & candidates belonging to SEBC / SC / ST category will get relaxation in age by 5 years. Ex-Servicemen will get relaxation in age as per the Govt. rules. The height of the male candidate should have to be at least 168 cms (163 cms for SC / ST); the chest should have to be at least 79 cms (76 cms for SC / ST) with expiration capacity of at least 5 cms and the weight should have to be at least 55 kgs (50 kgs for SC / ST). In case of female candidates, the height should have to be at least 155 cms (150 cms for SC / ST) and the weight should have to be at least 47.5 kgs (45 kgs for SC / ST). Candidates should possess good mental condition & free from any physical defect, which is likely to interfere the efficient performance of the duties. Scale of Pay is Rs.9,300/- – 34,800/- with Grade Pay of Rs.4,200/-.

 

Mode of Selection : Selection will be made on the basis of (i) Preliminary Written Examination, (ii) Physical Measurement Test & Physical Efficiency Test , (iii) Main Written Examination and (iv) Interview, which will be conducted by Odisha Staff Selection Commission. At first, candidates will be called for Preliminary Written Examination of 100 marks and it will consist of multiple choice objective type questions (OMR based) on General Science, Current Affairs (especially about National & International event), History of India & Odisha, Basic English Grammar, Arithmetic (10th standard) and Reasoning. The duration of this test will be of 1 hour and it will be qualifying in nature. There shall be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Qualified candidates in the Preliminary Written Examination will be put through Physical Standard Test (PST) & it will be conducted as per the physical parameter as mentioned above. Qualified candidates in the PST will have to appear for Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will consist of the following events : (1) for male candidates : (i) 1.6 kms running to be completed within 8 minutes, (ii) 1.6 kms cycling to be completed within 5 minutes, (iii) Long Jump of 3.66 metres within 3 chances, (iv) 5 kms cross-country run to be completed within 40 minutes, (v) Running over low hurdles (of 77 cms heights) for 100 metres with 10 flights, to be completed within 25 seconds. (2) for female candidates : (i) 1.6 kms running to be completed within 10 minutes, (ii) 1.6 kms cycling to be completed within 7 minutes, (iii) Long Jump of 2.77 metres within 3 chances, (iv) 4 kms cross-country run to be completed within 40 minutes, (v) Running over low hurdles (of 62 cms heights) for 80 metres with 10 flights, to be completed within 30 seconds. In addition to those events as mentioned above, candidates for the post of ‘Station Officer-Fire Service’, should have to appear for the following 4 physical efficiency tests : (i) High Jump of 1.22 metres within 3 chances, (ii) Swimming of 100 metres, (iii) Rope climbing of 6 metres using hands & feet within 3 chances, (iv) Climbing up of 8 metres through ladder within 3 chances. Qualified candidates in the Physical Efficiency Test will be called for Main Written Examination. The Main Exam will consist of questions on the following papers: (i) General English – 50 marks, (ii) Odiya Language – 50 marks & (iii) General Studies – 200 marks. The duration of the 1st & 2nd paper will be 90 minutes each and the 3rd paper will be of 3 hours. For the post of ‘Station Officer-Fire Service’, candidates should have to appear for an additional paper of 3 hours duration, carrying 200 marks and it will consist of questions on technical knowledge. Shortlisted candidates in the Main Written Examination, will be called for Interview carrying 30 marks. Candidates should have to download the Admit Card from the website mentioned below. The merit list of the successful candidates will also be available on the same website.
How to Apply : Candidates should have to apply on-line through this website : www.odishassc.in within 13.01.2014. Candidates should have a valid personal e-mail ID, which should be kept active during the currency of this recruitment process. Before, applying on-line, candidates should have to go through the detailed instruction to fill in the on-line Application Form. After that, candidates should have to click on the link ‘Apply On-Line’ on the website mentioned above. Thereafter, candidates should have to fill in all the required fields of the on-line Application Form and upload his/ her passport size recent photograph in specific digital format. After the verification, Application should have to be submitted by clicking ‘Submit’ Button. After the submission of the on-line Application Form, candidates should have to take 2 copies (‘OSSC Copy’ & ‘Applicant’s Copy’) print-outs of the Computerised System Generated Application Form containing a Unique Bar Code & Bar Code Number. Afterwards, candidates will have to choose the mode of payment viz. on-line & off-line.
In case of on-line payment mode, candidates will have to visit this website : www.odishatreasury.gov.in Afterwards, candidates will have to remit Rs.100/- as Application Fee by using on-line payment gateway through Debit Card / Net Banking facility. In that case, candidates should have to take a print-out of the ‘e-Challan’. In case of off-line payment mode, candidates will have to collect a Treasury Challan of Rs.100/- under the Head of Account ‘0051-PSC-104-UPSC/SSC-Examination Fees – 0047-Fees collected for conducting examination – 02041-Examination Fees’. For both mode of payment, no fee is required for the candidates belonging to SC / ST category. Last date for the submission of the on-line Application is 13th January, 2014.
