Graduates in Law discipline of any University / Institute recognised by the State / Central Govt. are eligible for the post provided they should have to be enrolled themselves as an ‘Advocate’ under the Advocates Act, 1961. Candidates should possess good character, sound health and free from any organic defects & physical deformity, which is likely to interfere the efficient performance of the duties. Age should have to be between 22 and 35 years as on 31.01.2013. Female candidates & the candidates belonging to SC / ST category of Jharkhand state will get relaxation in age by 3 years. Scale of Pay is Rs.27,700/- – 44,770/-. Number of Vacancy is 116 (UR : 58, SC : 12, ST : 30, BC-I : 09, BC-II : 07).

 

Mode of Selection : Selection will be made on the basis of ‘Jharkhand Judicial Service Examination’, to be conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission. The Preliminary Examination of 2 hours duration carrying 100 marks will consist of multiple choice objective type questions on the following 7 subjects : (i) General English, (ii) General Knowledge, (iii) The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, (iv) The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, (v) The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, (vi) The Indian Penal Code, 1860, (vii) The Law of Contract, 1872. There shall be no negative marking. Qualified candidates in the Preliminary Examination will have to appear for the Main Examination, which will consist of the following 4 papers : (1) Paper-I —(i) Procedural Law (The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, The Code of Civil procedure, 1908), (ii) The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, (iii) The Indian Penal Code, 1860, (iv) The Limitation Act, 1963. (2) Paper-II — (i) The Contract Act, 1872, (ii) The Sales of Goods Act, 1930, (iii) The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, (iv) The Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996, (v) The Transfer of Property Act, 1882. (3) Paper-III — (i) The Hindu Law, Muhammadan Law, (ii) Rent Control Law, (iii) The Specific Relief Act, 1963, (iv) Jurisprudence and (4) Paper-IV — General Hindi & English (Essay, Precise Writing, Translation & Paraphase). The duration of each paper will be 3 hours. Qualified candidates in the Main Examination, will have to appear for the Interview of 100 marks. Candidates should have to secure at least 25% (20% for SC / ST / EBC / BC) marks in aggregate to qualify in the Interview. How to Apply : Candidates should have to apply on plain A-4 size paper as per the format given on this website : www.jpsc.gov.in Before applying for the post, candidates should also have to fill in the ‘Fee Payment Challan’ on plain A-4 size paper as per the format given on the same website. Afterwards, candidates should have to submit the ‘Fee Payment Challan’ along with Rs.550/- (Rs.300/- for SC / ST of Jharkhand state) as Application Fee & Bank Charges in any one of the branches of the State Bank of India in A/c No. 33082764308. After that, candidates should have to collect the ‘Candidate’s Copy’ & ‘JPSC’s Copy’ of the ‘Fee Payment Challan’ from the branch containing all particulars. Afterwards, candidates should have to enclose the duly filled in application along with the following documents : (1) 1 copy of duly attested passport size recent photograph (to be affixed on the top right hand box of the Application Form), (2) Attested photostat copies of all Certificates & Mark Sheets in support of Date of Birth, Educational Qualification, Caste (for SC / ST / EBC / BC), Discharge (for EXSM), Disability (for PH), Experience (if any), (3) ‘JPSC’s Copy’ of the ‘Fee Payment Challan’. The envelope containing the duly filled in application should have to be superscribed as ‘Application for the post of Civil Judge (Junior Division)’.
