Candidates, who have passed H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent Examination conducted by any State Education Board / University are eligible to apply for Army Wing of National Defence Academy.
Candidates, who have passed H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent Examination with Mathematics & Physics subjects conducted by any State Education Board / University are eligible to apply for Air Force & Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy.
For all Forces : Final year students may also apply provisionally. Candidates should have to be born between 02.07.1995 and 01.07.1998. For admission to ‘Indian Air Force’ cadre, the height should have to be at least 162.5 cms (157.5 cms for Gorkhas). But for admission to ‘Other’ cadres, the height should have to be at least 157.5 cms (152.5 cms for Gorkhas). For all cadres, the weight should have to be correlated with the height & age. For the post of ‘Pilot’ in the Indian Air Force, the leg length should have to be 99 cms to 120 cms, thigh length should have to be at most 64 cms and the sitting height should have to be 81.50 cms to 96 cms. Visual standards of all cadres should have to be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in worse eye with or without glasses, which may be corrected with Glasses to 6/6 in better eye and 6/6 in worse eye. Myopia should not be more than –0.75 & hypermetropia not more than +1.5 including Astigmatism. The colour vision standards should have to be CP-III for Army, CP-I for Air Force & Naval Wings. Candidates should have good physical condition & for that they should have to follow the following routine : (i) Running 2.4 km. to be completed within 15 minutes, (ii) Skipping, (iii) Push ups & Sit ups at least 20 each, (iv) Chin ups at least 08, (5) Rope Climbing 3 to 4 meters. Candidates should not have any physical defects / deformities, which is likely to interfere the efficient performance of the duties. Number of Vacancy is 375, out of which 208 for the Army; 42 for the Navy; 74 for the Air Force & 55 for the Indian Naval Academy under 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme.

 

Mode of Selection : Selection will be made through ‘National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (I), 2014’, to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The written examination will be held on 20th April, 2014 at the following centres in Eastern India : Kolkata, Gangtok, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Ranchi, Patna, Agartala, Dispur & Jorhat. The Written Examination will consist of multiple choice objective type questions based on the syllabus of the 12th standard covering the following 2 subjects (Subject Code is given within bracket) — (Subject Code : 01) Mathematics – 300 marks & (02) General Ability Test – 600 marks. The duration of each subject will be of 150 minutes. There shall be negative marking of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer. The result of the Written Examination will be declared in the month of July, 2014. Successful candidates in the written examination will be called for Intelligence & Personality Test, to be conducted by SSB, which will carry 900 marks. This test will be held provisionally in the month of September to October, 2014 and it will consist of Intelligence (both verbal & non-verbal) Test & Group Test. Selected candidates will be liable to undergo practical & theoretical training for 4-years’ Bachelor of Engineering Course and it will commence on 2nd January, 2015. After the successful completion of 4th year of the course, they will be listed in order of merit on the basis of their results.
How to Apply : Candidates should have to apply on-line through this website : http://www.upsconline.nic.in within 20.01.2014. Candidates are required to have a valid personal e-mail ID, which should be kept active during the currency of this recruitment process. Detailed instructions for filling up on-line applications are available on the above mentioned website. After that, candidates will be required to fill in the on-line Application Form containing 2 stages viz. Part-I & Part-II as per the instructions available in the above mentioned website through drop down menu. Before applying on-line, candidate should have to go through the detailed recruitment notification, which is available on the website. Thereafter, candidates will be required to remit Rs.100/- either by depositing the money in any branch of the State Bank of India in cash or by using Net banking facility of State Bank of India / State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Hyderabad / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Travancore or by using VISA or Master Credit / Debit Card. No fee is required for the candidates belonging to SC / ST category. At the time of applying on-line, candidate should have to fill in all the required fields of the on-line Application Form & upload his passport size recent photograph and signature in specific digital format. After that, candidate will have to verify the data, what he / she put in the Application Form. After the verification, Application should have to be submitted by clicking ‘Submit’ Button. After that, candidates are required to obtain 1 copy of the print-out of the Computerised System Generated Application Form, which will have to retain for future purpose. Last date for the submission of the on-line Application is 20th January, 2014.
