RAJASTHAN PRE ENGINEERING TEST (RPET-2014)

ADMISSION TO FIRST YEAR OF B.TECH. / B.E. COURSES
FOR THE SESSION 2014-2015
The applications for RPET-2014 will be accepted online only. The process of online submission of application
form for RPET-2014 shall be carried out through any of the following websites :-

1. ONLINE SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM :
1.1 RPET-2014 application form is to be submitted online by way of following instructions provided on the web
portal. The candidate must fill, carefully, all details as required in the online application format.
1.2 Duration of submission of the online application form will be from 31.03.2014 to 15.04.2014. However the
last date for depositing the fees through e-Mitra/CSC network will be 14.04.2014.
1.3 Candidate is required to upload his/her recent passport size photograph and signature as per the facility
provided on the web portal of the online application form. Ensure that the image size of photograph should
not exceed 100 KB (maximum) in the JPG File format and the image size of Signature should not exceed 50
KB (maximum) in the JPG File format.
1.4 The candidate can edit the details entered by him/her in the Application format until he/she clicks the
“Submit” Button for final submission of application form. Once the candidate clicks the “Submit” Button,
he/she will not be able to edit the entered Data. Therefore, the candidates are advised to click “Submit”
button only and only if he / she is sure that the Data entered in the Online Application Format is correct and
no further editing is required.
1.5 The RPET-2014 will not be responsible for any consequence arising out of non-acceptance of any
correction/addition/deletion of any Data of the application form after clicking the “Submit” Button.
1.6 Deposition of Application Form Fees : Cost of RPET-2014 Application Form is Rs. 800/- including the
examination fees of RPET-2014. Candidates will contact any e-Mitra/CSC kiosk center authorized by the
Government of Rajasthan and deposit a sum of Rs. 815/- (Rs. 800/- against Application form Fees and Rs.
15/- for e-Mitra service charges). This amount is neither refundable nor transferable nor adjustable for future
RPET. The kiosk will generate a 16-digit Token number for the candidate using e-Mitra portal and issue a
receipt containing this Token number. Candidates are advised to keep this receipt safely with them for
further use. In order to activate the online application form for entering the required details, the candidate
must enter his/her token no. in the appropriate column of the application form. The online application form
will not accept entries without his/her Token number.
1.7 It is compulsory to send the hardcopy(printout) of application form along with the attested copies of relevant
certificates as mentioned in the check list by Registered post / Speed post (not by courier) on the following
address:-

The same can also be dropped in the drop box kept in the RPET office, Board of Technical Education,
Rajasthan, Jodhpur.
The last date of receipt of the printed application form (along with attested copies of relevant certificates) in the
RPET-2014 office is 5.00 PM of 21st April, 2014. The hard copy of the Application Form (RPET-2014) received
after last date and time shall not be accepted.
2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION :
A candidate must ensure that he / she is eligible for admission to various Governments aided and private unaided
technical institutions of Rajasthan (except BITS Pilani, MNIT Jaipur and other Deemed and Private Universities)
before filling up the RPET-2014 Application Form. If a non-eligible candidate is admitted due to any reason then
the admission of such a candidate will be cancelled as soon as the mistake is detected even at later stage. Various
eligibility criteria for admission to B.Tech./B.E. course shall be as under:
2.1 EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION :
A. The minimum academic qualification for admission to B.Tech./B.E. program in Rajasthan is a pass with
atleast 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to “SC/ST/Non creamy layer OBC/ Non
creamy layer SBC” of Rajasthan state) in the subjects combination as given below taken together, in the
final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) of Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan or any other examination
recognized equivalent thereto by Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan / Central Board of secondary
Education (CBSE).
B. Subject combination required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.Tech./B.E. courses shall be
as under:

C. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination class XII in 2014 will be provisionally
permitted to appear in RPET-2014. Such candidates will only be eligible for subsequent counseling and
admission, provided that they fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned above. However, all such candidates
will have to produce the proof of eligibility as above at the time of submission of the prescribed Option
Form / reporting in the allotted institute, otherwise their candidature will be cancelled.
2.2 AGE :
Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1989 are eligible. However, in the
case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Person with Disability (PwD) candidates, upper
age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PwD candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1984
are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education marksheet / certificate only will be taken
as authentic.
2.3 MEDICAL FITNESS :
A candidate desirous of admission to Engineering Colleges will have to deposit the Medical Fitness
Certificate at the time of reporting in the allotted institution on the prescribed form certified by a Medical
Officer of the Government of Rajasthan or a Registered Medical Practitioner as per medical standards laid
down below:
• Height: Not less than 1.5 m for male candidates and not less than 1.4 m for female candidates.
• Weight: Not less than 41 kg. for male candidates and 37 kg for female candidates (Approximately).
• Chest Measurement: Not less than 69 cm with satisfactory limits of expansion and contraction (for
male candidates only).
• Heart & Lungs: No abnormality.
• Hernia, Hydrocele, Piles etc.: Presence of any of these will be a temporary disqualification to be
rectified before joining the courses of study.
• Vision: Normal. Where defective, it must be corrected to 6/9 in the better eye and 6/12 in the worse eye.
Eyes should be free from congenital and other diseases. In case of admission to Mining Engineering
courses, the candidates must be free from colour blindness (inability to distinguish between principal
colours) also.
• Hearing: Normal. Where defective, it must be corrected.
• Speech: Normal.
The doctor will also have to certify that the candidate is medically fit for engineering profession.
2.4 DOMICILE CRITERIA :
The RPET-2014 is open to the candidates of Rajasthan Domicile only. The domicile status of Rajasthan of
any candidate will be ascertained as per any one of the following criteria.
Domicile Category – A
The candidate himself / herself or any of his / her natural parents (father / mother) is a bonafide resident of
Rajasthan. [Refer Certificate No. 1 (i)]
OR
Domicile Category – B
Candidate has studied continuously as a regular student in recognized educational institutions in Rajasthan
for the preceding three years up to and including the year in which he/she has passed / appearing the
qualifying examination (i.e. X, XI and XII classes). [Refer Certificate No. 1 (ii)]
OR
Domicile Category – C
Candidate is a son/daughter of either a serving employee or of a retired employee of any of the following:
[Refer Certificate No. 1(iii)]
(i) Government of Rajasthan (including officers of All India Service borne on the State cadre of
Rajasthan).
(ii) Undertakings/ Corporations/ Improvement Trusts/ Municipal Boards/Panchayat Samities / Co-operative
Bodies duly constituted by the Government of Rajasthan.
(iii) Statutory Bodies and Corporations formed under the Indian Companies Act incorporated in Rajasthan.
OR
Domicile Category – C
Candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of any of the Universities in Rajasthan or Board of Secondary
Education, Rajasthan or Government aided Engineering Colleges of Rajasthan who has put in at least three
years service on the date of submission of application in any of the above bodies. [Refer Certificate No. 1
(iv)]

Domicile Category – C
Candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of Central Government or Institutions of the Central
Government including Public Sector Undertakings or Corporations and who is on the regular rolls and is
serving in the State of Rajasthan on the date of application. [Refer Certificate No. 1 (v)]
OR
Domicile Category – C
Candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of Rajasthan origin, serving in Defence/Central Government
services/Public Sector undertakings/National Institutes of Government of India, who has put in at least three
years service on the last date for submission of application irrespective of his/her place of posting provided a
certificate is submitted by the employee from the employer to this effect stating the State of origin and the
home town as given by him/her at the time of his/her entry into service. [Refer Certificate No. 1 (vi)]
Note:
1. Ex-Servicemen (Ex-S) and the Defence Killed (DK) persons should be of Rajasthan origin for eligibility
of their children in these categories. The State of origin and home town as entered in the discharge
certificate shall only be accepted as proof in respect of the above. A copy of discharge certificate and
PPO must necessarily be enclosed to seek reservation/ relaxation in this category. The discharge
certificate and PPO must be produced in original at the time of Counseling.
For the wards of defence personnel from other State but serving in the State of Rajasthan, the domicile
condition is waved off to enable them to appear in the entrance test and be selected in general quota.
However, they would not be eligible for Ex-S/DK category.
2. Sons/daughters of the displaced persons from Jammu & Kashmir (KM) shall be eligible for admission to
Engineering Colleges through RPET-2014. The candidate has to submit a certificate from the competent
authority as a proof of being son/daughter of a displaced person from Jammu & Kashmir.
3. RESERVATION OF SEATS :
As prescribed by the Govt. of Rajasthan (except in case of Private unaided Institutions and 50% seats in the self
finance course of the aided institutions) the reservation of seats will be made subject to the prevalent statutory
provisions of the State of Rajasthan viz. 16% for SC candidates, 12% for ST candidates, 21% for candidates
belonging to non-creamy layer OBC category and 1% for non-creamy layer SBC candidates.
Provision will also be made for horizontal reservation of 3% for candidates belonging to physically
handicap(PwD), 25% for women category and 3% for dependants of Defence Killed/Ex-servicemen / Gallantry
award winners.
Priority for Category of Defence Persons will be as follows :

Reservation of girls in this category : 50% of the reserved seats in this category are earmarked for the girls.
KM Category : 5% of total intake capacity over and above the sanctioned strength in each of the institutions will
be reserved for Kashmiri migrants. Sons/daughter of the displaced persons from Jammu & Kashmir shall be
eligible for admission to Engineering colleges through RPET-2014. The candidate has to submit a certificate from
the competent authority as a proof to being son/daughter of displaced person from Jammu & Kashmir.
Acronyms of various categories are as follow:

Definition of SC / ST / Non creamy layer OBC / Non creamy layer SBC Category : The benefit of
reservation under SC / ST / Non creamy layer OBC / Non creamy layer SBC category shall be available only to
the candidates of the castes as notified under Presidential order for the State of Rajasthan, for which, the
certificate should be issued by the competent authority as mentioned in Certificate No. 2. However for claiming
the benefit in non creamy layer OBC/ non creamy layer SBC category, the candidate will also have to furnish an
undertaking in the prescribed Performa as given in Certificate No. 2.
It is further clarified that candidates belonging to creamy layer OBC/ creamy layer SBC category are not
entitled for reservation benefits and shall be treated in General category, therefore, creamy layer OBC / creamy
layer SBC candidates should fill General category in their application form. RPET-2014 : General Instructions Page : 4 / 10
Exact number of seats in various branches (Seat Matrix) will be notified through web site before counseling.
Note : For seeking the benefit of reservation in any category, sufficient documentary proof must be submitted
along with the Application Form (the formats of certificates for various reservation categories are available on
the websites). Category once indicated at the time of submission of application form along with documentary
proof will not be changed afterwards in any case.
4. COST OF RPET-2014 APPLICATION FORM :
4.1 The cost of RPET-2014 Application Form is Rs. 800/-. It also includes the RPET-2014 examination fees.
4.2 This amount deposited for RPET-2014 is neither refundable nor transferable nor adjustable for future RPET.
4.3 A plea that the candidate failed to receive the information for appearing in the RPET-2014 will not be
accepted as a ground for the refund of this amount or any other dues.
5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING RPET-2014 ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
The applications for RPET-2014 will be accepted online only. The process of online submission of application
form for RPET-2014 shall be carried out through any of the following websites :-

• Date of commencement for filling of the online application : 31-03-2014
• Last Date of depositing the fees through e-Mitra/CSC network : 14-04-2014
• Date of closure for filling of the online application : 15-04-2014
Detailed instructions with regards to filling up of online application form and other related
information are given on the web sites.
Candidates must perform following activities while submitting the online application form :
Step-1 : Deposition of Application Form Fees.

Step-2 : Documents to keep ready in hand before starting of filling Online Application form.
i. Scanned image of his/her Photograph in jpg format (image size Maximum upto 100 KB)
ii. Scanned image of his/her Signature in jpg format (image size Maximum upto 50 KB)
iii. Copy of mark sheets of X, XI and XII (if passed already) examination.
iv. Receipt issued by eMitra/CSC kiosk containing the Token Number.
v. Mobile no. of the candidate or nearest relative.
Step-3 : Filling of Online Application form.
i. Candidate must read instructions of filling the online application form carefully.
ii. The entries of online application form must be filled as required.
iii. Candidate should ensure that the photo and signature are same as uploaded by the candidate himself.
iv. The changes (if required) will be allowed in online application form before final submission.
v. Web page will not accept any changes after final submission of online application form.
Step-4: Taking Printouts in Hardcopy only after final submission of online application form.
i. Candidate will take printout of application form which will be generated by the web portal after final
submission
Step-5 : Submission of Application Form (Hardcopy) to the RPET-2014 office.
i. Attach all required documents as mentioned in checklist given in General Instruction. Write application form
no. on each document.
ii. It is compulsory to send the application form (hardcopy) along with photocopy of documents to the
following address through REGISTERED / SPEED POST (not through courier) :

The hard copy of the application form duly signed by the candidate along with requisite documents must
reach at above address latest by 5.00 P.M. of 21st April, 2014 irrespective of the fact that whether
21st April, 2014 is a working day or not. The hard copy of the Application Form (RPET-2014) received after
last date and time shall not be accepted.

6. ENCLOSURES TO BE SUBMITTED ALONG WITH RPET-2014 APPLICATION FORM :
6.1 An attested copy of Certificate / Marksheet of High School / Secondary bearing Date of Birth of the
candidate.
6.2 An attested copy of Mark sheet of 10+2 Examination, as a proof of having passed the qualifying
examination. In case of result of XII is awaited, photo copy of admission card of XII Examination-2014 is
to be enclosed.
6.3 An attested copy of relevant certificate necessary for claiming reservation. (Refer Certificate No. 2 to 6 as
applicable)
6.4 An attested copy of the relevant domicile certificate whichever is applicable [Refer Certificate No. 1(i) to
1(vi)].
Note : To avail benefit of domicile, reservation etc., the candidate will have to produce the requisite
certificate(s). For the convenience of candidates formats of such certificates are available on the websites.
7. INFORMATION REGARDING APPLICATION FORM :
Candidates are advised to visit the authorized web sites regularly for status of application and other details which
are to be uploaded by the RPET from time to time.
8. ADMISSION CARD FOR RPET-2014 :
Admission Card for RPET-2014 will be uploaded on web portal of RPET-2014. No admission card will be sent
personally to the candidate. The Coordinator RPET-2014 reserve the right to withdraw the permission
granted by mistake to a candidate who is not eligible to appear at the RPET-2014 even though the
Admission Card has been issued and produced by the candidate before the Centre Superintendent of
RPET-2014.
9. EXAMINATION SCHEME :
RPET-2014 shall consist of single examination of three hours duration containing 40 objective type questions in
each of the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. The total no. of questions will be 120 carrying one
mark each. There is no negative marking for wrong answer. The questions in the test booklet will be in Hindi as
well as in English. However, in case of any difference in Hindi & English versions of question, the questions in
English version shall be treated as valid.
10. SCHEDULE OF EXAMINATION :
RPET-2014 will be conducted on 21st MAY, 2014 (Wednesday) from 09.00 a.m. to 12.00 Noon. The Schedule
of the Test will be:
Candidates should report to the examination centre 08.30 A.M.
Commencement of the examination 09.00 A.M.
No Candidate will be permitted after 09.30 A.M.
Candidates will not be allowed to leave the Examination Hall before 12.00 Noon
11. UNFAIR MEANS :
Warning: The candidates are warned that with the promulgation of Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of
Unfair Means) Act, 1992 by the Government of Rajasthan vide Extraordinary Gazette Notification dated 11th
November 1992, the use of unfair means at a public examination is an offence under the law and accordingly the
person(s) found guilty of resorting to or using unfair means at the RPET- 2014 can be punished with
imprisonment for a term which may extend up to 3 years or with fine which may extend up to Rupees Two
thousand or with both.
11.1 The following acts shall be considered as unfair means:
• Possession of any objectionable material.
• Tearing of the Question Paper Booklet or any part thereof including answer sheets.
• Any attempt by candidate to obtain any information about question(s) set in any examination paper or
communication with any candidate in the examination hall.
• Communication by the candidate with any person concerned with the examination work with the
intention of influencing him/her for the award of marks.
• Communication by the candidate with any person with the intention of obtaining information about
the marks secured before declaration of the RPET-2014 result.
• Any activity by the candidate, which in the opinion of the Invigilator is likely to give unfair
advantage to him/her.
• Refusal/Resistance by the candidate for search to find out whether he/she possesses any objectionable

• Taking away the Question Paper Booklet and/or Main Copy and first carbon copy of the answer sheet
outside the examination hall.
11.2 If a complaint is lodged against a candidate that he/she used or attempted to use unfair means in the
examination, the matter shall be placed before the Unfair Means Committee to be appointed by the
Chairperson, Centralised Admission Coordination Committee (CACC) for recommendation and
accordingly the matter will be decided.
12. EVALUATION AND DECLARATION OF RESULT
12.1 Merit will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained by the candidate in RPET-2014.
12.2 Cut off Percentage will be decided by the Centralised Admission Coordination Committee (CACC) before
declaration of result. However, percentage of passing for SC & ST candidates will be 5% less than that for
other categories. In the event if vacancies exist in SC / ST category, the vacancies of SC category can be
filled by ST candidates and vice versa.
12.3 The merit of a candidate in RPET-2014 will be conveyed through website and notice board of RPET.
12.4 The marks sheet shall be dispatched by post, soon after the publication of RPET merit list. In case a
candidate does not receive the marks sheet within two weeks of publication of merit list, for any reason
whatsoever, he/she should write to the Coordinator RPET-2014 for another copy which shall be issued on
payment of Rs. 100/- by Bank Draft in favour of the Coordinator RPET-2014 payable at Jodhpur.
12.5 The merit of the candidates securing equal marks in aggregate in the RPET-2014 will be decided in the
following order :
a) The marks obtained in Mathematics in RPET-2014 will determine the relative merit of such
candidates.
b) In case of marks in Mathematics also being equal, the marks obtained in Physics at RPET-2014 will
determine the merit.
c) In case there is a tie on the basis of the above criteria, the relative merit will be decided by the age of
the candidate. The candidate of higher age (older candidate) will be placed on higher merit.
13. RE-EVALUATION / RE-TOTALLING :
The candidates will have to make request on plain paper giving details such as Roll No, Name, Centre etc. to the
Coordinator RPET-2014 within 07 days (Seven days) from the display of ANSWER KEYS of RPET-2014 (on
RPET Notice Board) and on payment of Rs. 100/- by Bank Draft in favour of the Coordinator RPET-2014
payable at Jodhpur.
• The answer sheets of the test shall not be subject to production before any Court (Civil or Criminal) or
before the candidate or anybody else on his / her behalf or before any internal or external authority.
• The answer sheets of candidates shall be preserved only for 3 months from the date of publication of the
RPET-2014 merit list.
14. FEE STRUCTURE :
Pursuant to the judgment dated 14-8-2003 of Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case titled as Islamic Academy of
Education V/s State of Karnataka, the State Government has constituted a State Level Fee Committee for
determination of fee structure for various technical courses including degree Engineering courses. As per the
directions of the State Level Fees Committee the interim fee structure for Degree Engineering courses for the
session- 2013-2014 is as mentioned in Annexure-1
The fee committee has yet not approved final fee structure for academic year 2014-2015. Further, it may be
noted that the fee structure for the session 2014-2015 will be finalized shortly by the State Level Fee Committee.
The candidates are required to pay the fee as prescribed by the Committee. The fee once deposited by the
candidate for admission will not be refunded.
15. ADMISSION PROCEDURE :
15.1 Candidates eligible after declaration of RPET-2014 result will be required to fill option form for the
purpose of admission. The detailed direction / guidelines and schedule will be issued by the Coordinator,
RPET-2014 later on. Subsequently the candidate will have to deposit Rs. 10000/- at the time of filling the
option form. The admissions will be carried out on the basis of merit in RPET-2014, the order of options
filled in by the candidates in the option form and seats available in respective institute. The candidates are
advised to exercise their options very carefully.
The allotment of institute and branch will be carried out through the computer software by strictly
following the order of merit, seats available and the order of options filled in by the candidate. No
correction will be allowed in the Option Form once submitted. No admission shall be made after the date
as fixed by Chairperson, CACC RPET-2014. RPET-2014 : General Instructions Page : 7 / 10
Candidates are advised in their own interest to secure latest information regarding the admission from the
authorised web site of RPET and Notice Board of Coordinator RPET-2014. The non-receipt of
communication to the candidate from Coordinator RPET-2014, Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan,
Jodhpur will not be accepted as a ground for not submitting the Option Form or non-reporting in the
allotted institute on the scheduled time and date. The candidate’s allotment shall stand automatically
cancelled if he/she does not report IN PERSON to the allotted institute as per schedule. In such case
his/her registration with RPET-2014 will be cancelled.
15.2 Candidates who have appeared at the qualifying examination (10+2) of 2014 will have to submit the
attested photocopy of the mark sheet of passing the qualifying examination (with required percentage as
per eligibility norms) with Option Form, failing which his/her Option Form will not be accepted and the
candidature will be cancelled automatically.
15.3 Adjustment of the amount Rs. 10000/- deposited with the Option Form :
a. This amount will be adjusted against fees for those candidates who have been allotted by RPET-2014
and reported in the allotted institute.
b. This amount will be refunded to only those candidates who have not allotted any institute by RPET-
2014 (Choice Exhausted).
c. If a seat is allotted to a candidate as per his/her options & merit and if he/she does not report in the
allotted institute, then this amount will be forfeited (i.e. not refunded in any case).
Note : In case of any other mode of counseling, separate instructions / guidelines will be provided to the
students through Newspapers, Website etc.
16. VALIDITY OF ADMISSION :
16.1 Admission of the candidate will be provisional till the eligibility/enrolment certificate is issued by the
concerned University.
16.2 If for reasons to be recorded in writing, the CACC suspects that a particular candidate has obtained a
certificate by misrepresenting or concealing the material facts, the matter will be referred to the competent
authority(ies). On receipt of the report, the CACC would take the final decision regarding the admission of
the candidate. His/Her admission will be treated as provisional during this period.
16.3 Permission to appear in RPET-2014 shall not guarantee for fulfilling eligibility criteria for admission and
only the eligible candidates will be considered for counseling and subsequent admission as per norms.
17. DEPOSITION OF FEES AND ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS :
At the time of reporting in the allotted institute, the candidates will have to deposit all original documents,
certificates and a specified amount towards fee. The allotted institute would check the documents and other
required certificates with originals. If the admission is granted, the amount would not be returned / refunded
under any circumstances. The original documents will be returned by the respective College after the University
enrolment has been done.
